Mariana's New Work Adventures
Mariana will be starting "full time" at GoodKey Weedmark (Dan's company) on January 2nd (She's been working
there part-time for 2 months). She'll work Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8-4. She'll continue
working Wednesdays 8-4 and Thursdays 6:30 to 11:00 pm at the Naval Reserve Unit. She will also continue working
at GoodLife Fitness in the evenings until the end of March. Unfortunately becoming a part-time trainer at GoodLife was
not an option, and the hours there are never guaranteed as a full timer. Thus, unfortunately Mariana is simply going
to finish training her clients until March.
Mariana may be going back to school in September. We'll keep you posted.

We're married!!!!
We had a wonderful time at our wedding, and according to many guests, the most fun wedding ever!
It was great to see many friends and family gather for this most important day.
We can't wait to see pictures and videos, so if you've taken them, please e-mail them to us at danandmariana@gmail.com. Don't forget to ask for our address if you would like it.
We had a great mini-honeymoon in Merrickville, ON, right in between Kingston and Ottawa. We stayed
at the Sam Jakes Inn and we highly recommend this amazing place. Wonderful service, delicious food, and the right place
if all you want to do is relax and take a break.
Keep in touch!

Mariana Switches Jobs
I have decided to cease my administrative contract with the Canadian Forces Health Services and start a
job more closely related to my degree in Physical and Health Education. I will be starting work as a Personal Trainer
for GoodLife Fitness Clubs on August 7th. I'll be working at an all-woman's location inside a Loblaws in East Ottawa
(Gloucester). It's about a 15 minute bike ride from where we'll be living.
GoodLife Fitness Clubs is the biggest name in the fitness industry in Canada and one of the biggest in North
America. I am excited to be starting a fresh new job with them, and I'll keep you posted.
I've decided to take a week off before the wedding adn a week off after, so that there'll be more time to
finish off the details for the wedding and for rest afterward.
Don't forget to e-mail us if you'd like our new address.
Love!

We have a new apartment
First two items are self-explanatory.
On to the third item: We have found an apartment and Dan is moving into it today. I will be moving
in after the wedding. It's in a nice neighbourhood, 10 minute drive from downtown, and right next to a park by the canal.
It's a nice little 2 bedroom. If you would like our new address, please e-mail us and we'll send it to you. You
can e-mail us at danandmariana@gmail.com
And we hope to see many of you there for dinner and movies!

As requested, news for the Month of May
Mariana in Ottawa
After a very long 5 years in university, I wrote my last exam on Saturday, April 29th, at 9:00 in the morning.
I then went to my apartment and proceeded to pack all my things. I spend the night at Janice and Gus's, and we all drove
to Ottawa on Sunday morning. I then started my job with the Canadian Forces Health Services Group on Monday morning.
I just finished unpacking my last box yesterday.
I am currently living with Sophie, a 38-year-old swing dancing lady who is super physically active and very
outdoorsy. She's really nice and so far we are gettin galong quite well.
I am biking to work everyday and absolutely loving how cyclist-friendly Ottawa is. There are bike
paths everywhere, and cars are much more friendly to us than they were in Kingston.
Dan and I will begin apartment hunting next week. We will post news when we find one!
That's the news for May!

Mariana's project to be presented at International Physical Activity and Public Health Congress
A project I worked on with a partner last semester will be presented at the International Congress on Physical
Activity and Public Health. A poster presentation of our project, "Chart your course: Development of a Community Physical
Activity Framework," will be presented in Atlanta from April 17th to the 19th of 2006. The project involved theory-based
research on encouraging and increasing levels of physical activity in a low-socioeconomic status population, as well as a
placement with the local Health Centre. While I cannot attend the congress (I have an exam on the 17th and one on the
18th), having my name on the poster presentation that will be presented at an International Conference is not only an honour,
but will also aid me in obtaining further education in Physical Activity and Public Health, should I choose to do so in the
future. It's a very cool thing, to say the least!

Davi visits Kingston
Davi (one of my 9 cousins - I used to think my family was sooo big before I met Dan!), who I had not seen
in over 5 years, came to visit Kingston last weekend. We had a great time touring Queen's, visiting the various
parties going on that weekend (a pub with a free live band on Friday night, a swing dance/blues party on Saturday night, plus
a Brazilian party later on Saturday night), and cooking lunch for my parents. We also had a delicious dinner at
Janice and Gus' home on Saturday night. Dad and Monica brought Davi and we all went to church on Sunday morning, then
out for lunch with the church folk. It was a great visit and Dan and I absolutely love the centrepieces that the
girls are working on. Hopefully it won't be long 'till I see Davi (and several other cousins) again!

Mariana's Faculty of Education Contract Finished
After three great years working for the Faculty of Education at Queen's, my last contract is finally over.
I was offered a new contract until the end of the school year, but chose to decline it in order to concentrate on my last
semester of university. The people at the office were great and all said they were going to miss me and thanked me for
my work. They'll be taking me out for lunch next week. I will definitely miss working for the Faculty of Ed, but
I am sure new adventures in the world of work await me in Ottawa.
